What you’ll do
We’re looking for an experienced Systems Trainer to join our Learning & Development team within HR in a full‑time, permanent role primarily based in our Exeter office. This is a business‑facing position with a strong on‑the‑ground presence, working closely with colleagues across the firm to help them use systems and technology confidently, consistently and effectively in support of high‑quality client service and the Ashfords Way.
In this role, you’ll spend time working alongside teams on the business floor, delivering structured floor‑walking, drop‑in sessions, briefings and targeted training focused on how systems are used in practice. As a lead user of the firm’s core systems and products, you will design and deliver IT and systems learning across the employee lifecycle, from induction through to ongoing development.
Although you’ll be primarily embedded within Learning & Development, you’ll work closely with IT, Knowledge and Risk to ensure system capability, learning content, user behaviour and governance are aligned and consistently applied. You’ll translate system functionality into clear, practical guidance that supports everyday work, promotes consistent and risk‑aware use of systems, and provides support for system rollouts, upgrades and enhancements.
You’ll also play a key role in induction, ensuring new starters are equipped to work safely and confidently from day one. Alongside this, you’ll develop engaging, bite‑sized digital learning content, including short videos, walkthroughs and e‑learning modules. Using feedback, observation and insight from across the business, you’ll continuously improve learning materials and approaches to support effective system adoption.
Who you are
You are a confident and knowledgeable systems user, able to support colleagues across multiple departments while balancing different workflows and priorities. You bring a calm, professional approach and enjoy helping others build confidence in using systems and technology, responding flexibly to changing business needs.
You have a strong background working with systems, preferably within a legal or professional services environment, and a practical understanding of how technology supports day‑to‑day work, including tools such as Microsoft 365 and Copilot. You are comfortable working across teams to understand differing requirements and tailoring your approach accordingly.
You have a natural ability to break down complex information and communicate it clearly and practically, adapting your delivery to suit different audiences and learning styles. You will have experience delivering training in a range of formats, including face‑to‑face and digital, as well as developing bite‑sized digital learning content or e‑learning. Familiarity with learning management systems will support your success in the role, alongside experience contributing to system rollouts or wider technology change initiatives. A formal training, learning or facilitation qualification would be advantageous.
Please note there will be an expectation to travel to our other offices, including Plymouth, Bristol and London, so a willingness to undertake occasional travel is essential for this role.
