Job Overview
Applications are invited for a dynamic and enthusiastic Consultant in Paediatrics at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust (Frimley Park Hospital). This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of 16 dedicated Acute Paediatric Consultants.

Further investment is underway in diagnostics and inpatient capacity at Frimley Park, and approval has been granted for a brand‑new hospital as part of the New Hospitals Programme, due by 2030.

Main duties of the job
The responsibilities will include a combination of attending weeks on the general paediatric ward and Paediatric Assessment Unit and Neonatal Unit, with on call 1 in 12 for General Paediatrics and Neonates.
Each week we have two Consultants attending, one for Paediatrics, and one for Neonates.
When attending for Paediatrics, the post holder will be responsible for the Paediatric
Ward and HDU. When attending for Neonates, the post holder will be responsible for the babies on the Neonatal unit, Delivery suite, postnatal ward and transitional care.
The post includes a 12-hour Consultant presence on PAU, which also involves answering the GP hot phone to give advice and guidance and accept primary care referrals until 6pm. All consultants participate in this rota Monday-Friday. There is an expectation that the post holder will attend the weekly Paediatric & Neonatal Grand Round when attending.
The post holder will provide 8 weeks a year in the attending role.
When not on an att
ending week there will be three outpatient clinics per week, two general clinics and the other will rotate between an urgent review/new patient clinic and follow up clinic.
On call for out of hours Consultant cover will be 1 in 12, covering both Paediatrics and Neonates; when on call the consultants are expected to attend night handover. All patients are reviewed by a Consultant within 14 hours of a decision to admit.
At weekends the Consultant is present for a minimum of 8 hours each day.
