The successful applicant can be based at either our Boddam or Uddingston site.


Thistle Seafoods is one of the largest family owned manufacturers of quality seafood products in Europe. We supply outstanding products at every price point to leading retail and food service customers within the UK, Europe, USA, Canada and Australia. Our Head Office is based in Peterhead in the North-East of Scotland, and our second site based in Uddingston in the outskirts of Glasgow.

The key responsibilities will likely cover many of those listed below, however depending upon the successful candidate we may tweak responsibilities to suit.


The Role

The primarily responsibility of the Management Accountant is to support the Finance Manager in the provision of management accounting, analysis and reporting of the company's costs and profitability. They will also play a key role in supporting the business by collaboratively working with stakeholders to improve business performance and maximise profitability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Variance analysis and reporting of product costs.
  • Preparation and posting of monthly journals and accruals.
  • Treasury accounting such as cashflow preparation, bank reconciliations
  • Preparation and submission of tax and levy returns.
  • Assisting in audits and working with external auditors.
  • Assisting with stock reports and stock counts
  • Investigating costs and suggesting cost saving measures.
  • Review and maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register.
  • Undertake process improvement projects and continual review of financial reporting processes.
  • Creation of product costings.
  • Provide ad hoc support/holiday cover for the Finance Managers and the wider Finance team, including purchase ledger and sales invoicing.
  • Support and actively promote brand integrity and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by ensuring there is engagement and communication between teams, customers and suppliers that continually drives improvement.
  • Undertake tasks as directed by the Directors and/or Senior Managers.

Experience:

  • FMCG or manufacturing experience is desirable.
  • Experience/ understanding of standard costings.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills and experience of using Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP systems.


Education/Qualifications:

  • Part qualified accountant (ICAS/ACCA/CIMA).


Hours of Work

  • Hours of work will be Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 5.00pm.
