The Role
The Managing Editor will lead and oversee the end-to-end delivery of CETaS publications, ensuring outputs are delivered to consistently high editorial standards.
The successful candidate will shape and develop CETaS’ public-facing outputs, proactively identifying and commissioning new publications, ensuring content and digital engagement activity supports the Centre’s strategic objectives and thought leadership.
Reporting to the CETaS Engagement Lead, the postholder will work closely with research staff across CETaS and the Defence and National Security team.
Eligibility for Security Check (SC) clearance is a requirement for this role. Eligibility criteria and further information on the process can be found on the UK Government security vetting website.
Your Profile
We want to hear from individuals who have strong professional editorial experience including editing, proof reading texts and adhering to house styles. You will have experience managing a pipeline of publications across academic and research environments. Utilising the Content Management System (CMS) on a daily basis, writing newsletters and/or marketing content within the CETaS team. Your meticulous attention to detail will be tested regularly as you prepare written outputs to academic publication standard. It is essential for individuals to be able to achieve UK Security Clearance (SC) once in post.

Term and Conditions

Applicants must be based in the UK and be able to travel to the Turing offices in London when required.
The Alan Turing Institute is based at the British Library, in the heart of London’s Knowledge Quarter. We expect staff to come to our office at least 4 days per month. Some roles may require more days in the office; the hiring manager will be able to confirm this during the interview.
