Mountain Warehouse's eCommerce business is a high growth, international operation that significantly contributes to total group revenue. As part of strategic digital acceleration, we launched an on-site marketplace platform in 2022 with the aim of expanding our third-party brand offering to deliver our customers unparalleled choice. The marketplace is still in a phase of rapid growth and looking for a key member in the team to help accelerate this.

The Marketplace Category Manager will be responsibility for driving forward online revenue at category level in line with defined KPIs by ensuring the product mix is refined to optimise performance. They will do this by managing sellers within their category area, identifying potential sales gaps and targeting new brands and sellers to further drive category growth.

This is a hands-on role at the heart of our expansion strategy and is well suited to someone with a passion for eCommerce, high attention to detail and who thrives in a high-growth environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and own the category strategy to achieve budget targets, driving forward all growth opportunities.
  • Own the category level reporting & analysis and feed into a wider marketplace trading activities and insight.
  • Follow and understand market, category & brand trends to ensure we are targeting the right sellers and products.
  • Work closely with the Mountain Warehouse Buying and Trading teams to share learnings and feedback insight
  • Identify and target new brands to fill category and product gaps, managing the full acquisition pipeline and following up on leads to ensure there is a strong backlog of new prospects.
  • Build strong relationships with strategic accounts & maximise growth opportunities with existing sellers.
  • Support promotional activities by ensuring we maximise the participation for top tier sellers to drive revenue.
  • Provide any ad hoc analysis to draw insights on category and seller performance and drive forward initiatives based on the data.
  • Present ideas and updates to all levels of seniority.

  • We Would Like To Meet Someone Who Is

    • Min 5 years eCommerce, Merchandising or Commercial Retail background.
    • Strong analytical skills with proven experience analysing data to identify trends.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills – able to build and manage relationships with brands and able to manage multiple accounts simultaneously
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
    • Commercial and keeps up to date and aware of market trends, changes in demand
    • Thrives in a busy environment with ability to adapt to last minute requirements.
    • Highly organised and efficient.
