An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Maternity Support Worker to become a band 3 at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust Hospital - Queen Charlotte's & Chelsea Hospital, West London.

It is desirable that you have had previous experience working within a healthcare setting, and be competent to undertake a range of duties such as the following; providing advice and supporting women with infant feeding, undertake competently a range of clinical skills such as taking and recording of observations, providing patient education, venepuncture and newborn blood spot screening.

Person specification
Education
Essential
- Completed Care Certificate or equivalent experience
- Able to demonstrate literacy, numeracy and communication skills in English to carry out the duties of the role (known as functional skills), or GCSE or equivalent experience
Desirable
- Further qualifications and training relevant and required by the speciality of this post
- Level 2 or 3 Health Care qualification/apprenticeship, or completion of Band 3 Excellence in Care Competencies for existing Band 2 substantive MSW
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working in Acute Hospital setting or care background, in a Band 2 MSW role or equivalent
- Experience of delivering personal care to patients
- Experience of using computers or willing to undertake training in local computer systems
Desirable
- Experience of taking clinical observations
Skills
Essential
- Evidence of using one's own initiative
- Awareness of risks, identifying them and alerting appropriate personnel
- Knowledge of basic IT systems or willing to undertake training
Desirable
- Awareness of changing agenda within NHS
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Previous experience of complex health needs
- Competently perform a range if the core skills relevant to the area of speciality
