Role Title - Project Manager – Secure File Transfer (MOVEit) | Regulated Environments
Role Purpose
The MOVEit Project Manager is accountable for the governance, delivery, and compliance of secure file transfer and automation programs using MOVEit Transfer and MOVEit Automation within a regulated enterprise.
This role ensures data protection, regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and operational resilience, working closely with Security, Risk, Compliance, Infrastructure, and Business teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Regulatory‑Driven Project & Program Management
- Lead MOVEit initiatives including new implementations, upgrades, vulnerability remediation, migrations, and decommissioning.
- Ensure projects comply with GDPR, ISO 27001, SOX, PCI‑DSS, HIPAA (as applicable) and internal security policies.
- Maintain project governance artifacts: charters, RAID logs, compliance checkpoints, and sign‑off records.
2. Secure File Transfer Governance
- Oversee enterprise‑wide usage of MOVEit Transfer & Automation ensuring:
- Approved protocols (SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS)
- Strong encryption (PGP, TLS)
- Controlled user access and segregation of duties
- Ensure secure handling of sensitive data (PII, PHI, financial data).
3. Risk, Audit & Compliance Ownership
- Act as the single point of accountability for audit readiness related to MOVEit.
- Coordinate internal/external audits, penetration test observations, and regulatory reviews.
- Track remediation of vulnerabilities and security findings to closure.
4. Stakeholder & Cross‑Functional Leadership
- Work closely with:
- MOVEit Administrators & Platform Teams
- Information Security & GRC teams
- Infrastructure (Windows/IIS), Cloud, DevOps
- Application owners and business stakeholders
- Translate technical risk into clear business impacts for leadership.
5. Automation & Integration Oversight
- Govern MOVEit Automation workflows and integrations using REST APIs, scripts, and scheduling tools.
- Ensure automation reduces manual intervention without introducing security or compliance risk.
- Approve production releases and enforce change management (CAB).
6. Operational Readiness & Documentation
- Ensure SOPs, runbooks, escalation models, and DR procedures are created and maintained.
- Validate monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes.
- Support major incidents, RCA coordination, and continuous improvement.
7. Vendor & Third‑Party Management
- Manage vendor relationships with Progress (MOVEit) and external partners.
- Review contracts, SLAs, and security attestations.
- Coordinate vendor support for incidents, patches, and roadmap planning.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 8–10+ years of IT experience with 5+ years managing security or infrastructure programs.
- Proven experience delivering MOVEit Transfer & Automation projects in regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of secure file transfer, encryption, identity & access controls.
- Experience working closely with Risk, Compliance, and Audit teams.
- Excellent executive‑level communication skills.
