Indigo’s Development Engineering team builds and runs the monitoring, automation and operational tooling that underpins 24×7 network operations across multiple customer environments.
We’re looking for a network-first engineer with strong hands-on network operations experience who uses software development and scripting to solve real operational problems.
In the near term, you’ll do significant work with our SolarWinds monitoring platform supporting multiple external customer networks; longer term, you’ll help improve observability, automation and operational resilience across our network operations estate.
This is not a general full-stack/product role, this role is focused on monitoring, alerting, automation and operational efficiency in a multi-customer operations context.
Network monitoring & operations tooling:
- Build, extend and support monitoring and operational tooling used to manage customer network environments.
- Work extensively with SolarWinds to enhance alerting, reporting, dashboards and automation.
- Design and implement monitoring standards that deliver actionable insight (reducing alert noise).
- Develop and optimise SWQL queries for reporting, automation and operational workflows.
- Improve monitoring coverage, data quality and signal-to-noise ratio across customer environments.
- Onboard new customer networks into monitoring platforms (discovery, configuration and validation).
- Partner with NOC and network engineering teams to improve visibility and incident detection.
Automation & integrations:
- Design and develop internal tools and scripts to reduce manual operations work and improve scalability.
- Build integrations between monitoring platforms and internal systems using APIs and automation.
- Standardise monitoring, configuration and operational processes across multiple customers through automation.
What we’re looking for (essential)
- Significant hands-on experience in network operations (e.g., NOC, MSP, telecoms or multi-customer environments).
- Strong practical understanding of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, SNMP, DNS, OSPF, BGP, DHCP).
- Hands-on experience with production monitoring platforms, including SolarWinds.
- Experience responding to, diagnosing and improving operational alerts and incidents.
- Scripting/service development experience (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to automate network operations tasks.
- Experience writing and optimising SWQL queries for monitoring, reporting or automation.
- Experience integrating monitoring/operational tooling via APIs.
- Strong troubleshooting across network, monitoring and tooling layers.
- Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
