Job Overview

The post holder will act as an innovator, motivator, key change agent and role model to support and influence clinical pathway redesign within Endoscopy services including quality improvement, implementation of national initiatives, service reconfiguration and new digitally enabled models of care.

The post holder will provide clinical leadership, expert practice, and advanced knowledge, building on the body of nursing knowledge in this specialist area. The post holder will act as an expert resource both internally to the Trust and externally in the field of Endoscopy.

The post holder will work with a high level of autonomy, acting as a representative for the Trust on external advisory groups/bodies as required. The post holder will monitor and improve standards of care through assessment of practice, clinical audit, disseminating research, teaching and supporting professional colleagues, and in the provision of skilled professional leadership.

The Post Holder Will

• ensure the systematic delivery of high-quality specialist treatment and interventions for individuals requiring Endoscopy.
• lead and support treatment and interventions provided by other clinical members of the team, and other health professionals who are providing simultaneous care.
• ensure care is patient centred and delivered in the most appropriate, safe and effective environment.

Management responsibility for the Clinical Endoscopists with conjunction with Clinical Lead

KPI monitoring and audit with conjunction with Clinical Lead

Datix and Clinical Incident reviews with conjunction with Clinical lead

Lead in Vetting of diagnostic procedures

Lead for SOPs and PGDs related to Endoscopy

Support Guideline & service developments with conjunction with Clinical Lead

Oversight - JAG Audits with conjunction with Clinical Lead

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and implementation of the Non-Medical Endoscopists course
• Act as faculty member for the National endoscopy Centre and Mersey School of Endoscopy
• Provide education in gastroenterology to pre-registration students based at the local university
• Devise training programmes with nursing, managerial and academic colleagues to meet the training needs of nursing colleagues in gastroenterology

Contribute to the education, training and development of medical staff within the directorate

Provide training support to Primary Health Care Teams in the management of gastrointestinal problems

Provide expert advice and education to other nurses and others across the Trust

Support Nurse Specialists in the provision of health promotion and health education to individual patients/carers and patient groups

Establish academic nursing links in the department, optimising opportunities for nursing research
