We are looking for a newly qualified or current Band 5 children's nurse to join our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Birmingham Children's Hospital.
As the Lead Centre for Paediatric Intensive Care services for the West Midlands, we care for critically ill children from a wide range of specialties including cardiac, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), liver, medical, oncology, renal, surgery, neuro and trauma. This provides a unique opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills within a specialist paediatric critical care environment.
We are a 31 bedded unit with a friendly, dedicated and experienced team delivering paediatric and cardiac intensive care (PIC/CIC). Although we are a large department, we work within three smaller sub teams. This approach helps build strong team relationships, encourages collaboration and ensures staff feel supported in their day-to-day practice.
Working alongside experienced nurses and a wider multi-disciplinary team (MDT), you will deliver high quality Level 3 intensive nursing care to critically ill children. The majority of our patients are cared for on a 1:1 nurse to patient ratio, enabling you to provide focused, individualised care whilst working closely with children and their families during some of the most important moments of their lives.
Please refer to the attached job description and person specification to view the full details for this opportunity on PICU at Birmingham Womens and Childrens NHS Foundation Trust.
When completing your application, please ensure you have evidenced how you meet the job description and person specification to include transferable experience, qualifications, skills along with professional registration details (if applicable).
We often receive a large number of applications for our roles and when that happens we sometimes bring the closing date forward, so please apply promptly to avoid disappointment.
