The team you will join
This role sits within the wider HR team, who are here to support, advise and effectively manage all aspects relating to the employee life cycle. The HR team are made up of HR specialists, learning & development, payroll
& benefits, talent acquisition and early careers teams.
This role will work closely with our dedicated Wellbeing Nurse, who is available to support all colleagues with any matter related to their health and wellbeing and discuss options for support and signposting.
The work you will be doing
You will provide an effective and proactive occupational health service to our employees. This will include management referrals, pre-employment screening, proactive health campaigns, annual medicals and assisting wellbeing campaigns. Responsibilities include:

The work you will be doing
You will provide an effective and proactive occupational health service to our employees. This will include management referrals, pre-employment screening, proactive health campaigns, annual medicals and assisting wellbeing campaigns. Responsibilities include:
- Providing comprehensive, confidential advice to line managers, HR colleagues and employees and make recommendations on fitness for work and any necessary adjustments.
- Review pre-employment health questionnaires and provide guidance on medical concerns to the HR team.
- Completion of annual medical screening process.
- Provide signposting to relevant options for support and promote internal support options including our employee assistance programme and private medical insurance scheme.
- Assist with staff referrals to our external Occupational Health Doctor.
- Attend team meetings across the firm to highlight the service and overall importance of health and wellbeing.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate will be an NMC registered nurse and will have:
- Experience in delivering corporate occupational health services and health assessments.
- Exemplary communication skills.
- Excellent IT skills, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Positive and enthusiastic approach to teamwork.
- Adaptable and flexible.
- Self-motivated, ability to use initiative and provide pro-active support.
- Ability to pay attention to detail and check own work.
- Reliable and well organised.
- Ability to manage own work effectively.
We will also consider qualified nurses wishing to pursue a career in Occupational Health where we can support with training.
Hybrid Working
Birketts is a flexible business which has embraced a hybrid working model where our colleagues enjoy a mix of home and office working. This role attracts a split of 60% office days and 40% working from home days per week.
Although the role is Ipswich based there would be occasional travel required to the other Birketts offices (Norwich, Cambridge, London, Sevenoaks, Bristol and Chelmsford).
