We have an exciting opportunity for motivated Occupational Therapists to join our adult social care service in Southampton to support our reablement service. We have just redesigned our reablement service and have far reaching and ambitious plans to build a sustainable adult social care service that supports our residents to live independent and fulfilling lives in communities that work together for the benefit of all.
Southampton recognises the essential role of Occupational Therapy in helping people live independent lives and are seeking innovative, creative Occupational Therapists to help build a new service.
The main purpose of the role is to deliver an Occupational Therapy Service within adult social care to support a therapy led approach within reablement. You will gain experience in provision of equipment and minor adaptations to support independence, moving and handling, goal focused reablement planning, support wellbeing and prevention and signposting to other community services.
You will work with colleagues and partner agencies to ensure a high quality, responsive and professional social care occupational therapy service leading to positive outcomes for adults with care and support needs.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
- To provide an Occupational Therapy service to adults with care and support needs, their families, and carers in line with statutory requirements.
- To complete occupational therapy assessments in relation to adults’ personal independence and occupations, in accordance with current legislation and in conjunction with other team members or professional workers.
- To advise and, where possible, teach methods of carrying out daily activities to help individuals overcome a disability and promote independent living.
- To recommend and provide, where appropriate, standard, specialised and moving and handling equipment and give guidance to clients and their carers in its use.
- To provide advice, information, and guidance on other services available from social services and other agencies.
- To communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, to maintain written and electronic records in accordance with Directorate policies and to be aware of the Directorate’s ‘Access to Records’ policy.
- To promote the Occupational Therapy service to users, colleagues, and other agencies and to identify and contribute to future service developments.
- To work closely with colleagues in health care teams, private and voluntary sectors, and other directorates, to achieve the best possible outcome for clients and their carers.

Salary: The salary band for this role is £41,771 - £46,141. The
starting salary is £41,771 with annual progression through the salary bands.
