As a Process Engineering Inspector, you will be involved with regulating offshore oil and gas operations and related activities with a particular focus on addressing the potential major accident hazards in relation to the process plant. In this frontline role, you can influence not only individual organisations but the sector as a whole.
Working Pattern
Please note that due to the nature and volume of the work and travel, this role is only suitable for full time working.
Travel
In role, you will spend on average 2-3 night stays offshore (subject to weather) approximately 6-8 times a year for proactive inspection or reactive investigation work, potentially at short notice, all within a small multi-discipline team.

- Investigations of incidents (including hydrocarbon releases) or complaints as part of a multi-discipline team dealing with enforcement or supporting others as necessary on technical aspects
- Inspections (on/offshore) as part of a multi-discipline team, completing reports and issuing different levels of enforcement depending on the risk present

Essential Skills And Criteria
- A breadth of practical experience and knowledge (equivalent to the role of Process Technical Authority) which has been gained whilst working in an operational role in an offshore oil and gas production environment. This should include an understanding of:
- Relevant engineering codes, standards, and industry guidance
- Plant and process design including understanding of the hierarchy of control
- Safe operation of plant including maintenance activities
- Hazard identification and assessment techniques including HAZOP, LOPA etc
- Risk assessment and risk management tools
- Process safety management and associated frameworks
- The ability to think strategically, identify underlying core issues, and engage at different levels both with colleagues, site technical staff and at the most senior levels within an organisation
There will be a requirement to travel to the office for various activities, e.g., collaborative working, supporting and training colleagues. If hybrid working is suitable for you and your role, you will be expected to attend the office, or other business-related site, for 60% of your working week. The arrangements will be determined primarily by business need, but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account.
