Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled P6 Planner to join our team on the South Coast, United Kingdom. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving the successful delivery of engineering and infrastructure projects within the water and energy sectors.

In this senior position, you will take ownership of the development, implementation, and management of robust project plans. You will work closely with project teams, senior management, and clients to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with programme objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of integrated project programmes, schedules, and resource strategies using Primavera P6.
  • Produce detailed Work Breakdown Structures and ensure programme logic is fully aligned with scope, methodology, and contractual requirements.
  • Proactively identify, analyse, and communicate project risks, providing mitigation strategies and programme recovery proposals where required.
  • Support project managers and discipline leads to define key milestones, sequencing, and project deliverables.
  • Produce tender and contract programmes, ensuring compliance with NEC conditions and client expectations.
  • Conduct resource and productivity analysis to optimise project performance and support cost forecasting.
  • Lead schedule reviews, progress reporting, and programme updates, providing clear narrative and supporting evidence.
  • Ensure project planning processes adhere to best practice, industry standards, and internal governance procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, sharing expertise and mentoring junior planners within the team.
  • Engage collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to ensure early identification and resolution of programme issues.

  • Qualifications

    • Proven experience in a senior planning role within utilities, civil engineering, or major infrastructure.
    • Expert working knowledge of Primavera P6
    ; familiarity with other planning tools (e.g., MSP) beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of the NEC form of contract and associated planning requirements.
  • Demonstrable ability to build, manage, and interrogate complex project schedules.
  • High-level analytical, mathematical, and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior teams and clients.
  • Knowledge of construction methodologies, project controls principles, resource modelling, and earned value analysis.
  • A detail‑driven approach with a commitment to accuracy, compliance, and project success.
