Description
Our immigration specialists guide clients through the complexities of the UK's immigration law and we're proud of our record of working with education providers, employers across a range of sectors and private clients providing immigration advice that's tailored to their needs.

Immigration Partner Tom Brett Young advises on a range of immigration issues with a particular focus on providing immigration advice to employers and education providers.

A paralegal role at VWV provides the perfect building blocks for future trainee solicitors looking to gain experience ahead of starting a training contract, or even to assist with applications for training contracts themselves, and that's due to the variety of legal disciplines you'll be exposed to. We're proud of our record in transitioning a good proportion of our existing paralegals into trainee solicitors.

Is This the Role for You?

This is a great opportunity to gain experience in a fast paced, topical area of law that can change from one day to the next. With supervision you'll be preparing immigration applications and advice as well as template instructions for employers and education providers to assist them in meeting their sponsorship/immigration obligations. You'll develop those all-important client facing skills as you liaise with clients over the phone and during client meetings. And if that's not enough, you'll also become familiar with the firm's case management system and compliance procedures for letters of engagement, file opening, money laundering, archiving, billing and client accounts.

In this role, you'll provide invaluable support to the team by taking ownership of legal administration tasks, allowing our lawyers to focus on business generation. You'll become familiar with the firm's compliance procedures for letters of engagement, file opening, money laundering, archiving, billing and client accounts. And you'll get plenty of exposure to our clients as you play a key part in gathering relevant information to assist the lawyers with their enquiries.

Who We're Looking For.

Perhaps you're a recent graduate looking to gain experience towards studying SQE and securing a training contract, or you could be someone working towards a CILEx qualification, already committed to a career in law, working with private clients. We're open to candidates from a range of educational backgrounds who can demonstrate an interest in private client work and the right transferable skills.

Whilst immigration experience is advantageous as it may help you settle in more quickly, it's by no means essential. What matters most to us are your core skills and attitude. It's a busy role, so you'll be organised, an excellent all-round communicator with proficient IT skills using Microsoft Office and someone who's motivated by the team's successes ahead of their own. And whilst there's no doubt that time spent in a commercial law firm of this size will naturally enhance your commercial acumen, we love to see applications from graduates whose commercial awareness is instinctive, so if that's you and you have a genuine interest in immigration law, then we really want to hear from you.

Why Choose Us?

There are so many reasons to stop and explore VWV further. We're known for our friendly and welcoming culture where teamwork and collaboration are key. There's no pigeon-holing or glass ceilings here, just a professional yet relaxed culture where you can finally be yourself.

At VWV, we're committed to your growth with our bespoke Learning A
cademy, offering structured career-level programs across core business areas to prepare you for promotion opportunities and career advancement - join us to unlock your full potential.

We're striving to be an inclusive employer of choice, to create a workplace environment that promotes and values diversity, where everyone, regardless of background, can reach their full potential. During the assessment process, we've supported a range of reasonable adjustments in the past, though we continue to learn and evolve to create the best possible candidate experience for everyone. If you'd like to discuss what's possible — even if you're not sure what you might need — please reach out to our recruiter, who'll be happy to talk through options and share what's worked well for others.

Where Will I Be Working?

VWV supports hybrid working and equips all paralegals to work from home. However, for our early talent, we believe it's crucial for development to gain as much exposure to office life as possible, so these roles are predominantly office-based. That said, we're happy to discuss individual circumstances and hybrid arrangements as part of the assessment process.

How To Apply

All you need to do is click on the "Apply Now" button to upload your CV and cover letter, explaining why you think you'll enjoy working with private clients.

Research shows that people from diverse backgrounds sometimes hesitate to apply unless they meet every requirement. At VWV, we believe potential and attitude are just as important as experience so if you're enthusiastic about this role, we'd love to hear from you.

Recruitment Agencies.

Please note that VWV manages all paralegal recruitment directly and does not engage recruitment agencies for these roles. Any unsolicited CVs sent to VWV Partners, or our Talent Acquisition Team will be treated as gifts, with no fees payable.
