Partnership Accounts and Tax Senior Manager

What we are looking for:


A key Global role reporting to the Head of Tax and Partner Accounts, overseeing the tax affairs of the firm and its partners and the partner accounting affairs, both in the UK and across the many jurisdictions that the firm operates from. The Partnership Accounts and Tax Senior Manager will work within the Partnership Accounts and Tax team together with 3 team members.


What you'll be doing:


Partnership accounting:

  • Ensure all monthly drawings for all partners are calculated correctly and timely paid.
  • Production of monthly partner statements for partners in relevant currency and reconcile these to the accounting system.
  • Calculation of quarterly distributions to equity partners liaising with cashiers to ensure all are timely paid.
  • Answering ad hoc partner queries regarding all partnership accounts including issuing letters for personal mortgage applications.
  • Responsible for the partner capital process including reviewing calculations, liaising with the banks where appropriate.
  • Ensure all interest on capital is paid whether to the bank or partner on a quarterly basis.
  • Liaising with HR/Compliance/Financial Accounts team to ensure partnership data is available for reporting to include surveys, insurances and gender pay gap.
  • Assist with annual profit sharing/sourcing exercise in accordance with the Members Agreement and Operating Rules.
  • Ensure an adequate tax account is maintained for all partners including a six monthly review of tax accounts and releasing excess tax account payments to partners.
  • Liaise with HR on departing partners ensuring that partners understand the arrangements as set out in the Members Agreement and Operating Rules concerning all details of partnership accounts.
  • Assisting the Financial Controller on cash flow forecasts for partnership matters.

  • Tax:

    • Review and filing of UK partnership tax returns.
    • Review and filing individual partner tax and the non-resident composite return, including amended prior year returns as necessary.
    • Review and filing corporate tax returns for certain UK companies within the WFW Group (currently 2 returns).
    • Review and approval of UK tax payments to HMRC.
  • Liaison with the firms’ tax advisors on all UK Tax issues.
  • Extensive liaison with Tax Advisors and non-UK finance team members to ensure tax compliance across all jurisdictions including Germany, France, USA.
  • Review and approval of all non-UK tax payments for partners.
  • Review and filing of PSA.
  • Ad hoc queries in relating to global mobility, VAT on billing, withholding tax etc.
  • Support on tax projects including transfer pricing, opening of new offices, firm restructuring, responding to changes in tax policy.
  • Support the Global Financial Accounting Team with all queries/requests resulting from the annual statutory audit.

  • Skills & qualifications:

    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels.
    • High levels of accuracy and numeracy and the ability to work to strict deadlines and high workloads.
    • Strong IT skills including Excel (advanced) and UK tax software.
    • Experience in a similar role in a legal or other professional services firm preferred.
    • CTA and/or ACA Qualified or equivalent.
