Patient Administrator - Admissions | Spire Murrayfield Hospital - Edinburgh | Full Time, Permanent
Spire Murrayfield Hospital in Edinburgh is currently looking to recruit a Patient Administrator to join their Admissions department. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic team and have a great impact.
The hours are on a rota basis working Monday to Friday between 7.30am and 6pm. The shift patterns will be 7.30am - 3.30pm, 9am - 5pm or 10am - 6pm, with the occasional Saturday 9am to 1pm. Please only apply if you can commit to these hours.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Maintain and update patient records on the hospital computer system, primarily reservation arrangements of day-case and in-patient admissions
- Answer telephone and email enquiries from patients, consultants and colleagues in a timely and efficient manner
- Ensure medical records are available for all pre-operative assessment appointments, liaising with medical records where necessary and preparing all paperwork associated with the assessment
- Ensure all patients are booked in a timely manner ahead of their procedure
- Book all pre-operative assessment appointments for patients attending for surgical procedures at Murrayfield and Shawfair Park Hospitals
- Prior to admission ensure all authorisation is in place for insured patients, or payment has been received for self-funding patients.
Who We're Looking For
- Previous relevant experience in an administrative support role
- Comfortable working to deadlines and ability to work under pressure
- A real team player
- Strong IT skills
- Previous experience in healthcare
- Basic understanding of medical terminology would be a distinct advantage
