The Payroll Services department at Nottinghamshire County Council are recruiting for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team during an exciting time of change.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your payroll career where you will be fully trained in all aspects of payroll and transactional HR activities. Whilst an understanding of Payroll would be desirable this is not essential if you have the right ‘can do’ attitude and administrative skills.

The job role will include actioning new starters, leavers and contractual variations in an accurate and timely manner, in line with the monthly deadlines. Other administration tasks will include the production of contracts, maternity administration and responding to general pay queries. You will also be the first point of contact for both telephone enquiries and correspondence, responding in an effective and efficient manner. Our customers include Nottinghamshire County Council departments, Schools and Academies, Pensions and other external clients.

This role consists of hybrid working, however there will be an expectation that the post holder attends our current office base at County Hall, West Bridgford on a frequent basis as determined by the needs of the business.

Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, you must be organised, with good customer service skills and have a positive and flexible approach to teamwork. Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills are essential, and you will be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and other IT systems. You must be able to work to deadlines, in a logical and methodical manner, using your own initiative and be able to follow agreed procedures and guidelines, consistently achieving a high level of accuracy. An understanding of Data Protection and the boundaries of confidentiality is essential.

This post is also available as a secondment opportunity to existing Nottinghamshire County Council employees. You must seek approval from your line manager before applying.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.

Nottinghamshire County Council strives to ensure that it goes beyond the requirements of the Equalities Act and prides itself on being accredited as a Disability Confident Leader Organisation.

Therefore, the County Council encourages applications from all, irrespective of gender, marital status, disability, race, religion, belief, pregnancy and maternity status, age or sexual orientation.
