Description

Salary: The starting salary is £40,519, which includes allowances totalling £3,009 allowance.

The salary is broken down as £37,510 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £40,141. Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Location: Heathrow

Aviation Policing is part of Metropolitan Police Specialist Operations. It is an armed protective security command for Heathrow and London City Airport. Aviation Policing provides specialist protective security and delivers front line policing core functions.


Performance Analyst is a new role within Aviation Policing that has been created to deliver analytical support to enable Aviation Policing is part of Metropolitan Police Specialist Operations (SO-AP) to manage its performance. Through the New Met for London plan the Analyst will assist the Senior Leadership Team to deliver data-driven decision making to enable more trust, less crime and high standards. This means treating our data in the same way we treat our people, methods and technology; as a strategic asset.


The role:

As a Performance Analyst, you will work with a range of stakeholders to deliver evidence based, high quality, and insightful analysis to support the delivery of MPS objectives. It includes using analytical findings to spot trends, forecast future implications and highlight areas of good or poor performance. You’ll look to enable and support data-driven decision making across Aviation Policing.


Performance Analysts will help to embed approaches and frameworks that underpin and enable the effective delivery of a key performance, which will recognise emerging risks, steer organisational direction, inform decision making at all levels and provide assurance.


You will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking analysis; this will include analysing diverse datasets to make best use of the evidence base and produce high quality analytical products. This may include:
  • Ensuring datasets are used consistently to deliver accurate and reliable analysis and uphold credibility across So-AP
  • Understanding and manipulating data using appropriate systems and languages including but not exclusive Structured Query Language (SQL), Excel, MPS systems,
  • Providing analysis to support and enable the discussion of policing issues and improvement recommendations,
  • Using information and a range of techniques to review the success of day to day Policing activity.
  • Ability to present effectively and own regular meetings with key stakeholders to assess and identify issues to enable data-driven decisions
  • Produce high quality analytical products that communicate findings in a meaningful way for the intended customer using a range of presentational styles,
  • Building and maintaining effective internal relationships with staff and external stakeholders to ensure you understand their needs and deliver the right products,
  • Embracing change and striving to deliver continuous improvement,
  • Support the development of analytical processes, tools and techniques to ensure the production of insightful products that enable decision making, learning and provide assurance,
  • Supporting the approach to evidence based policing, which will help to shape how Aviation Policing should operate in the future,
  • Ability to balance and manage competing priorities,
  • Undertake ad hoc reporting.
