Job Overview

Join Our Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team

5 month secondment opportunity

We are looking for an organised and motivated individual to provide essential administrative and operational support within our Clinical Trials Pharmacy team.

In This Role, You Will

  • Provide full administrative support to the clinical trials pharmacy staff
  • Carry out a range of general pharmacy duties under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
  • Act as a key point of contact for Sponsors and healthcare professionals involved in clinical trials supported by the Pharmacy Department at the Royal United Hospitals Bath
  • Liaise with colleagues across multiple professional groups, both within the hospital and externally
  • Attend online national and international clinical trial meetings as required

You may also be asked to support additional tasks or work in other areas of the department depending on service needs.

Main duties of the job

  • To adhere to ICH – Good Clinical Research Practice Guidelines.
  • To provide a complete administrative/clerical support for the pharmacy clinical trials team
  • To maintain clinical trial protocols and all other relevant documents
  • To manage and re-direct incoming correspondence, using initiative where appropriate.
  • To liaise with other RUH clinical trial departments and Clinical Research Organisations to arrange suitable times for sponsor visits.
  • To support the technician to ensure that site files and pharmacy logs are ready for inspection by sponsors.
  • To support technician where necessary in ordering and managing clinical trial investigational medicinal products
  • To support technician with regular expiry date checks of clinical trial investigational medicinal products and dealing with emergency stock issues.
  • To unpack, check against original order and store correctly clinical trial investigational medicinal products received, completing any required documentation.
  • To report any discrepancies found to the clinical trials technician and clinical trials pharmacist.
  • To ensure clinical trials stock is located in the correct designated area
  • To support the technician in maintaining the audit trail of the clinical trial drugs by collecting and storing prescriptions
  • Deputise for the Clinical Trials Technician when required.

    The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
