Qualifications
Essential
- GCSEs in English and Math's. Successful applicants will have to undertake an English and Maths assessment prior to interview.
- You will need to undertake an initial 6-week training program provided in house.
Desirable
- Venepuncture certificate with evidence of 6 weeks training.
- Desire and aspiration to achieve phlebotomy competency.
Skills & Knowledge
Essential
- Language skills with strong written and verbal communication.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Empathy in dealing with anxious patients.
- Assertiveness when dealing with aggressive patients.
- Ability to communicate where there are obstacles to understanding.
- Calm, well organized and be able to work under pressure.
- Ability to work accurately and quickly in an organised manner with attention to detail.
- A good level of computer literacy.
Desirable
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
- Ability to speak other languages.
Experience
Essential
- Customer service experience.
Desirable
- Phlebotomy experience.
- Previous experience in a healthcare environment.
Special Requirements
Essential
- Must be physically able to assist less able & wheelchair bound patients into and out of a phlebotomy chair.
- Ability to work in environment with frequent exposure to body fluids and biological hazards.
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Able to bend and lift boxes up to 20 kg
- Able to push trolleys of samples/stock
- Must be able to travel across our sites.
