Physiotherapy Healthcare Support Worker

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Physiotherapy Healthcare Support Worker based in Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda (YCR) Hospital on the In patient rehabilitation wards. The successful candidate will support the physiotherapists and the multi-disciplinary team to provide physiotherapy intervention and facilitate hospital discharges. The post will mainly involve working with the elderly. Experience of working within a therapy role or within a healthcare setting would be an advantage for this role.

The hours will be 37.5 hours/week, Mon-Fri.

The successful candidate will be a key member of the physiotherapy team as well as the multidisciplinary team and will work under supervision and guidance of trained physiotherapists to: provide direct intervention to patients; assist with administrative tasks and information gathering (including data collection and inputting); and to promote best quality patient care throughout the in-patient admission.

Full training will be provided to ensure the successful candidate is supported and a competency framework will be used to ensure they have the appropriate skills to assist with physiotherapy treatments, and to carry a caseload of patients where mobilisation and exercise plans need to be complete.

Qualifications

Essential

• Good standard of education - GCSE grade C or equivalent including English and Maths
• NVQ level III or equivalent in relevant subject

Desirable

• An understanding of manual handling principles

Communication

• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Experience of adapted communication skills

Desirable

• Welsh lanugage speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above

Experience

Essential

• Previous experience of working in the care setting
• Experience working with the public

Desirable

• Therapy experience within NHS

• Able to cope with demands of post including using wheelchairs and hoists and the therapeutic moving and handling of patients

• Ability to travel across CTMUHB area in a timely manner to fulfil the requirements of the post
