Brief Description

Play a key role in optimising and integrating access requirements within the Route Engineering Access Plan. You will work collaboratively across functions, engaging with work requesters, customers and key stakeholders to coordinate, build and continually refine the engineering access plan through effective worksite integration.

About The Role (External)

✅ What You’ll Do & What’s Expected

In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting the Planning Team to deliver all activities involved in the safe, efficient and standards‑compliant planning of possessions, worksites, line blockages, TSRs, On‑Track Machines and engineering trains. You’ll process Route access requests and help ensure they are effectively integrated into the wider Engineering Access Plan, enabling safe delivery of work across the network.

You will actively participate in possession planning meetings — and, when required, co‑chair them — contributing to the production, validation and checking of planning publications and updates. You’ll also assist in preparing documentation and materials that support the operational delivery of the Engineering Access Plan.

A core part of the role will involve working closely with stakeholders and customers across the Route to understand and coordinate their access requirements. You’ll help drive continuous improvement by supporting the identification and implementation of initiatives that enhance the quality, efficiency and overall effectiveness of the planning function.

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate the following essential criteria:

  • Support the Planning Team in delivering all activities related to the planning of possessions, worksites, line blockages, Temporary Speed Restrictions (TSRs), On‑Track Machines and engineering trains, ensuring all plans adhere to relevant industry standards and safety requirements.
  • Process and coordinate Route access requests, integrating them effectively into the Engineering Access Plan to enable safe and efficient delivery of maintenance and project activities.
  • Attend and, when required, co‑chair possession planning meetings , contributing to the preparation, review and validation of planning publications, schedules and updates to ensure accuracy and alignment across all stakeholders.
  • Assist in producing operational documentation and supporting materials that facilitate the successful delivery of the Engineering Access Plan and enable clear communication across delivery teams.
  • Engage proactively with stakeholders and customers across the Route , supporting the alignment and coordination of their access requirements to ensure collaborative and efficient planning outcomes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives , helping identify and implement opportunities to enhance quality, efficiency and consistency within the planning process.
