About The Team

Freeths LLP Planning and Environment Group is a truly multi-disciplinary team of 42 professionals comprising planning lawyers, environmental lawyers, advocates and planning consultants operating across all development sectors. The group is recognised for its depth of knowledge, breadth of experience and for providing clear, pragmatic and commercial advice and support in navigating the planning process – from the inception of a proposal through to delivery – in order to secure the optimal outcome for our fantastic clients.

Identified in the Planning Law Survey as one of the fastest growing planning teams over two consecutive years and ranked as 10th largest in the country we wish to recruit Legal Assistants in our Leeds and Nottingham office. The team offers a supportive and flexible working environment with exciting work opportunities across many development sectors.

About The Role

Our Legal Assistant Programme allows you to gain grass roots experience of working in a legal environment alongside our talented lawyers. We trust our people to work flexibly in the way that works best for them, their teams and our clients. Our firm is set up to ensure everyone’s voice is heard, and mutual respect is shown by all.

Legal Assistant positions are initially for 9 months. We review performance at 3 monthly intervals where we are assessing performance and attitude. At the 9-month stage we make a decision on whether to offer funding for the Solicitor Qualifying Examinations.

Please note that non-law graduates and those without a qualifying law degree or conversion will need to have completed the PGDL before applying.

Key Responsibilities

To provide legal support to Trainees, Lawyers, and Partners, which means that you get a true picture of what a career in law could offer you in the long term.

To carry out any other such reasonable tasks that may be required from time to time. This may include but is not limited to drafting and preparing legal documents, conducting legal research, supporting major projects and planning appeals, preparing document bundles, and expanding your knowledge in Planning and Environmental Law.
