What You’ll Do
Maintenance & Repairs
Caddick Construction is a family-owned business renowned for quality, integrity, and innovation in the construction sector. We are seeking an experienced and proactive Plant Fitter to join our Fleet team based in Wakefield, supporting our sites across the Yorkshire and North East region. As a Plant Fitter, you will play a key role in ensuring our mechanical and non-mechanical plant equipment is maintained, safe, and operational to support our projects. What You’ll Do
Maintenance & Repairs
- Carry out scheduled servicing based on operating hours
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on equipment such as excavators, diggers, cranes, ride-on mowers, strimmers, and hedge cutters
- Conduct safety checks and inspections on plant machinery and tools
- Maintain accurate records of work completed
- Assist with loading/unloading of plant equipment
- Order necessary parts and liaise with suppliers
- Identify equipment for disposal or quarantine
- Prepare plant and equipment for hire or sale
- Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures
- Report accidents, near misses, and non-compliance
- Use appropriate PPE and maintain high housekeeping standards
Skills and Experience (Essential):
- NVQ Level 4 or City & Guilds Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent
- Valid CSCS Plant Operator card
- Full driving licence (max 3 penalty points)
- Experience diagnosing and repairing faults on a variety of plant and small equipment
- Computer literate
- Forklift licence
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- Proactive and self-motivated with excellent time management
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with colleagues and suppliers
- Flexible and adaptable with a positive approach to teamwork
- Typical hours: 7:30am - 6:00pm (50+ hours per week)
- Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required
- Work environments: workshops, construction sites, and outdoor locations
