We are seeking a Platform Security Engineer to manage end-to-end solution design and be responsible for delivering design documents in line with functional and non-functional business requirements, strategies, principles, standards, and patterns.
Alongside the creation of high-level designs, the Platform Security Architect will be required to publish new architecture patterns, key decisions, design deviations, and technical risks and issues where appropriate.
Cybersecurity Expertise & Experience:
Significant experience in platform engineering, observability, and provisioning within cybersecurity.
Proven experience in building, migrating, and uplifting data platforms in a large enterprise environment.
Proven ability to develop and implement a strategic vision for platform services, observability, and provisioning.
Strong understanding of cloud platforms, containerisation, and microservices architecture.
Broad background across information technology with the ability to communicate clearly with non-security technical SMEs at a comfortable level.
Strong proficiency in technical scoping, architecture design, and integration of security tools and processes.
Strong understanding of cyber security principles, governance, and compliance frameworks.
Ability to translate business needs into scalable, user-centric cloud solutions.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a focus thought leadership and solution development.
Experience in both operational and transformation cybersecurity roles or a clear working understanding of both perspectives.
Experience working in large-scale IT transformation programmes.
Qualifications & Certifications:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in cybersecurity, computer science, software engineering, or related field preferred.
CISSP/CISM certification or other broad cybersecurity industry-recognised certificate preferred.
SABSA or TOGAF certified preferred.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Security Data Platform Architecture & Engineering:
Oversee the design, development, and deployment of security data platform services that meet the cybersecurity needs of the business.
Ensure security data platform services are reliable, efficient, and capable of supporting global operations.
Implement comprehensive observability strategies to provide real-time insights into system performance and health.
Drive the automation of provisioning processes to enhance speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
Architecture & Design:
Own, author and drive solutions that allow engineering teams to deliver and execute strategic technology deployments at speed and scale.
Provide assurance that technology implementations meet published designs.
Support engineering teams documentation and ensure alignment to architectural principles, standards, and patterns.
Ensure solution designs align to published reference architecture.
Provide technical expertise & consultation to transformative programmes of work within their security domain.
Influence business and technology executives to help them align their initiatives with standardised offerings whilst also engaging with them to understand their business requirements, threats and risks.
Clear understanding of both the motivations of the business and technical security.
Promote strong documentation and clerkship.
Governance:
Willingness and ability to present reference architecture to design authorities and articulate deep technical concepts to a broad range of stakeholders in both large forums and smaller deep-dive sessions.
Ensures all reference architecture, high-level designs, architecture patterns, decision records, deviation requests, and technical risks or issue records undergo architectural and project governance processes.
Ensure all architecture artefacts undergo appropriate peer review prior to design authority presentation.
Present publications at technical design authorities for input, feedback, and approval.
Risk and Dependency Management:
Effectively manages and escalates both technical and project risks or issues.
Articulates solutions and remediation steps to technical risks & issues.
Ability to map design decisions to resultant technical risks & issues to articulate the cause and rationale which leads to any negatively impacting change.
Leadership & Teamwork
Support cybersecurity executives through thought leadership and innovation.
Lead others and create an environment that supports and inspires people to develop and deliver.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure platform services meet the evolving needs of the business.
Built effective networks both internally and externally and created opportunities for others to work collaboratively.
Make strategic business decisions, considering relevant risks, long term implications, commercial realities and stakeholders needs.
