This role sits within Technology & Platforms which is responsible for defining and maintaining the strategy and roadmap for all core technology platforms. This includes platform vision, prioritisation, and planning; financial management and investment; platform architecture design and assurance; and the definition and implementation of platform architecture standards. The function ensures platforms are robust, scalable, cost-effective, and aligned with the overall business strategy, adapting to evolving needs and driving innovation.

Technology & Platforms is split into Digital Workplace, BSS & Fixed B2B2C Wholesale, Core Engineering, Platform Engineering and Platform Innovation.

This role sits with the Core Engineering division. This division is accountable for Providing operational oversight to core engineering services, ensuring continual improvement.

Oversees and assures: The design, build and maintenance of technology used:

  • Enabling agents to interact with VMO2 customers and manage sales and service operations, including voice and chat capabilities.
  • Supporting applications for digital identity management (ID) and subscription video on demand (SVOD).
  • Managing customer communications and consent for processing personal data.
  • Designing, building, and maintaining microservices architecture, middleware, and API gateways to enable seamless communication between software applications.
  • Conducting testing across Technology & Platforms.


The Platform Technical Lead provides hands-on technical leadership and governance across a defined platform estate within a strategic partner model.

They are accountable for the technical integrity, resilience, and operational robustness of the platform, acting as the primary technical authority and interface between VMO2 and the Strategic Partner responsible for build and run services.

They ensure all solutions align to VMO2 architecture standards, engineering guardrails, and non-functional requirements.

The must haves

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience:

  • Strong background in commerce / sales platforms
  • Deep experience in microservices and API-driven architecturesHands-on experience with full-stack technologies, including Node.js, Next.js, Storyblok, and cloud-native platforms such as GKE and Cloud Run
  • Proven technical leadership across end-to-end delivery
  • Experience reviewing and assuring designs, estimates and sizing
  • Strong incident and escalation management experience


The other stuff we are looking for

We'd also love you to bring;

  • Experience governing production platforms (resilience, performance, lifecycle)
  • Strong stakeholder and vendor management skills
  • Experience in strategic partner / managed service environments (desirable)
