Our newly established (Environment and Business) E&B Portfolio Management Office (PfMO) is focused on creating a centralised portfolio that drives change, transformation, and continuous improvement. The E&B PfMO is recruiting a Finance and SystemsSenior Advisor to drive forward the PfMO vision.
This role plays a pivotal role in E&B’s PfMO, providing expert oversight of financial reporting and systems. The role ensures high‑quality financial insights, robust system management, and timely, accurate responses to internal and external commissions.
This position also provides day‑to‑day leadership to a small team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement in portfolio financial management processes.
Key responsibilities:
Provide day to day leadership, professional development, coaching, and support to a small team within the PfMO.
Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
Lead the development, consolidation, and delivery of high-quality financial reports through partnership with finance colleagues to improve financial transparency.
Ensure financial data integrity, accuracy, and alignment with organisational standards and reporting cycles.
Monitor and analyse portfolio level financial performance, risks, variances, and opportunities and provide recommendations to senior leaders to support strategic, informed decision-making.
Lead on the allocation refresh and prioritisation activities required of the PfMO to maintain and develop clear, consistent, and controlled portfolio oversight.
Act as local data custodian and user support for P3M systems and tools, ensuring data quality, user access control, and process compliance.
Act as a trusted advisor on financial reporting, systems, and portfolio management best practice.
Represent the PfMO in cross directorate working groups, governance forums, and strategic discussions.

Experience/skills Required
This role is central to ensuring the E&B directorate has clear, reliable financial insights, data accuracy and system management. By combining technical expertise with leadership capability, the Finance and Systems Senior Advisor strengthens decision‑making, enhances portfolio transparency, and supports the effective delivery of strategic outcomes across the directorate.
Essential skills:
Strong experience in financial reporting/analysis/ portfolio financial management.
Proven ability to manage and improve systems, tools, or digital platforms used for portfolio or programme oversight.
Experience leading or supervising a team, with the ability to motivate and develop others.
Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and data‑interpretation skills.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and commissions.
Clear, confident communicator, both written and verbal.
Ability to work collaboratively with senior stakeholders and influence decision‑making.
Desirable skills:

You’ll have an EA Office base location, as a national role the working location is flexible/hybrid, however some travel and overnights may be required.
