Description
The opportunity

We're currently looking for a Press Office Intern. Someone to join our Public Relations and Communications team in order to play a key role in establishing our premium electric performance brand in the UK. Someone with a passion for electric mobility, an interest in technology, and a desire to create the change we know is needed.

The PR and Communications team work across external and internal communications on both a B2B and B2C basis, working in tandem with other departments in order to achieve success. This is a very exciting role where you will gain a great breadth of experience and knowledge, reporting directly into the Polestar UK PR Manager.

This position is located at Polestar UK Headquarters in Bicester, Oxfordshire three days a week with home working twice a week. Some UK-based travel for PR event work will be required. We believe in a hybrid model when it comes to remote and onsite work, knowing that both in-person collaboration and individual time to focus are needed. What matters most is that people get the time, and support, to do what needs to be done. And to enjoy doing it, of course.

The Responsibilities

In this role, you'll be supporting the small PR team across a variety of projects where you can add real value and make a difference. You'll be instrumental in driving coverage of Polestar in the UK and boosting brand awareness, ultimately resulting in sales. See below for a more thorough breakdown of the various tasks and areas you'll be responsible for:

  • Coverage collation: collate all Polestar-related coverage in the UK on a daily basis, reporting back to the PR team and creating reports for the wider business
  • Press fleet management: managing our fleet of Polestars for media use, liaising with journalists every day, increasing utilisation of our cars and aiding brand awareness
  • Supporting internal communications: working with the PR Manager on ways to keep up internal morale, weekly communications with the whole UK organisation, managing internal events
  • Supporting event management: working with the PR team as well as external events agency to ideate, create and manage PR events such as first drives, range days and Polestar Space openings
  • Supporting editorial ideas and campaigns: working with the PR team as well as external PR agency to create editorial ideas for UK-based media to drive brand awareness of Polestar

The ideal candidate

In order to succeed in this role, and at Polestar in general, there are a few characteristics you'll need to have: tenacity, flexibility and curiosity. A true team player with ability to take the initiative, and to meet deadlines and requirements efficiently.

The Ideal Candidate Should Have

  • The ability to operate individually and take direction
  • Sound knowledge of the media landscape
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organisation and planning skills
  • A desire to test new ideas and approaches
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ideally a valid UK driver’s licence

While competence and experience are important, personality and passion are key!

In Addition, You'll Need The Following Qualifications

  • In the process of gaining, or just graduated from, a degree in public relations, communications, marketing or similar
  • At least three A levels graded C or above

Polestar is an international company, with various backgrounds represented. English, therefore, is the language of written and spoken communication.

Please note that this is a 54-week full time fixed term contract so is likely best suited to someone looking to gain experience in a press office role for a placement year while either still at university or newly-graduated.

The process

The interview process is human-led and so candidates found to be using AI will be rejected. However, if the above job role matches your ambitions, be sure to apply.
