Description
About The Role
At Balfour Beatty, we’re delivering high-quality, sustainable buildings that make a lasting impact across the UK. Our Regional Build business in London is growing — and we’re looking for an experienced Preconstruction Manager to play a pivotal role in securing and setting up projects for success.
Our Regional Build business delivers a diverse portfolio of high-quality projects across sectors including commercial, education, healthcare, residential, and public sector frameworks. With a strong pipeline of opportunities and continued growth across the capital and surrounding regions, we are looking to appoint a Preconstruction Manager who can lead from the front — driving winning strategies, building trusted client relationships, and setting projects up for operational excellence from day one.
We believe the success of every project is determined long before construction begins. The decisions made at preconstruction stage shape programme certainty, commercial performance, sustainability outcomes, and ultimately the experience of our clients and communities. That’s why we place enormous value on strong, strategic preconstruction leadership.
What you'll be doing
As a Pre-Construction Manager You Will
Leading bid and preconstruction activities across a varied portfolio of regional build projects
Developing winning strategies and managing tender submissions
Overseeing cost planning, risk management, and value engineering
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners
Coordinating internal teams including estimating, design, planning, and commercial functions
Ensuring seamless handover from preconstruction to delivery teams.
Who we're looking for
You Will Have The Following
Proven experience in a preconstruction or bid leadership role within main contracting
Strong commercial awareness and technical understanding of building projects
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
A collaborative mindset with the confidence to lead and influence
A track record of securing profitable work within the London or South East market.
Why work for us
Day in, day out, our teams deliver some of the UK’s most ambitious, exciting and meaningful projects; developing, building and maintaining the vital infrastructure that supports national economies and strengthens communities.
