Description
Digital Futures is seeking a Principal Data Analyst to lead analytical work that enables evidence‑based decision‑making for clients, focusing on clear insight, reporting and decision support. The role bridges business questions and data, ensuring stakeholders have trusted, actionable information.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of analytical projects, dashboards and reports that address key business questions.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand decisions, define metrics and translate needs into analytical requirements.
  • Explore and interpret data to generate insights, identify trends and highlight risks or opportunities.
  • Establish and promote standards for reporting, data visualisation, metric definitions and self‑service analytics.
  • Mentor analysts across teams, reviewing work and providing guidance on analytical techniques and storytelling.
  • Partner with data engineering and data architecture teams to ensure data foundations support analytical needs.

Skills & experience

  • Significant experience in data analysis, BI or analytics roles, ideally within consulting or complex organisations.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with BI/visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Looker or similar).
  • Solid understanding of analytical techniques, descriptive statistics and how to apply them in business contexts.
  • Experience defining and managing metrics, KPIs and performance reporting.
  • Ability to structure ambiguous problems, prioritise questions and design clear analytical approaches.
  • Excellent communication skills, both in written outputs and verbal presentations.

  • Behaviours & mindset

    • Acts as an insight partner, focused on influencing decisions rather than just producing reports.
    • Curious about the business context and motivated to understand “why”, not just “what” the data shows.
    • Clear and concise communicator, tailoring messages to different audiences.
    • Advocates for data quality and clarity, challenging unclear or inconsistent metrics.
    • Collaborative and proactive in identifying where analytics can add value.
