Description
Expleo UK is currently seeking a Principal FEM Engineer to assist in the delivery of technical projects within our extremely busy Aerostructures Department.

You will be responsible for working with the project technical lead to deliver Aerostructures FEM analyses, on time and quality. To achieve this, you will work in teams of engineers. You will have overall control of the FEM team, implementing best practice, Approving Validation and Verification reports and giving advice and direction in line with project outputs.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for completing FEM analyses in terms of timescale, cost and quality.
  • Responsible for implementation of FEM best practice
  • Working with the relevant team lead or project manager as appropriate, to report on the technical progress of tasks.
  • Checking of technical deliverables to a high standard (e.g. reports, presentations, ECMs)
  • Coaching and mentoring more junior stress engineers.
  • Identification of potential variations to work scope, or rework at an early stage and escalation to the technical lead.
  • Ensure the adherence to the Company's Quality Assurance Policies in any work undertaken on the project.
  • Responsible for Scoping, Estimating and Compiling Statements of Work, Bid Proposals in the FEM domai n

  • Essential Skills

    • Knowledge of Aerospace norms and standards
    • Knowledge of OEM requirements
    • Good communicator, able to talk to all levels within the Business
    • Knowledge of Metallic structures
    • Knowledge of Composite structures
    • Ability to support non-FEM structural activities
    • Ability to Approve Validation and Verification reports
    • Comprehensive knowledge of:
      • Hyperworks
      • Patran
      • NASTRAN
      • OptiStruct
      • DFEM
      • GFEM
      • Automation of generating Input
      • Automation of extracting Output
      • Python
    Desired Skills

    • Comprehensive knowledge of:
      • Ansys
      • Abaqus
      • Other FEM software
    • Working knowledge of:
      • Simulation software, e.g. COMSOL
      • CFD analysis, e.g. Fluent
    Experience

    • Experience in Aerostructures FEM analysis, ideally on wings.
    • Previous checking and delegated approvals.

    What Do I Need Before I Apply

    • Specific qualifications and security clearance.
    • UK BPSS and ability to obtain SC.
