What do we need


We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer for our M-Star team. M-Star is modern computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software that provides first-principles modelling tools for scientists and engineers, generating predictions that are functionally indistinguishable from measured data.

As the Senior Software Engineer you will maintain and enhance our cross-platform desktop GUI applications. This role combines C++ desktop application development and Python API enhancement. The engineer should have strong experience with technical software.

You will work in a small yet highly effective and efficient specialised team, who deliver world class CFD software to multiple industries including Life Sciences, Chemical Material, Industrial and much more. In this role will work alongside colleagues who have the brightest minds, holding PhDs and who regularly write research papers and speak at conferences. The opportunity to learn is vast!


In this role you will get to:


Desktop Application & API Development


  • Maintain and enhance cross-platform desktop C++ GUI applications (Windows/Linux).
  • Develop and extend a Python-based API that integrates with the core application.
  • Support user workflows in technically complex software environments (e.g., 3D CAD, CFD).
  • Ensure performance, stability, and usability of engineering-focused GUI tools.


We are looking for people who have 10+ years of professional software development experience with an education or working experience in Background in engineering, scientific computing, or simulation software. You will be a highly advanced software engineer typically beginning to become hyper-focused/specialised, a team member who makes important product decisions regarding direction and scope and be comfortable acting as the single point for engineering within MStar.


The key skills we are looking for


  • Strong C++ development background
  • Advanced level in developing desktop GUI applications for technical or scientific software.
  • Python for API development and automation


You may also have


  • Familiarity with CI/build systems and release engineering
  • Experience with software licensing systems
  • Familiarity with cross-platform frameworks (Qt, Wx)
  • Experience with 3D CAD software
