An exciting opportunity has arisen at Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH) NHS Trust for an experienced and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join the Pharmacy team as Procurement Lead and Responsible Person WDA(H).
This senior role is responsible for leading the safe, efficient, and cost-effective procurement and distribution of medicines across the Trust, ensuring full compliance with MHRA guidance and Wholesale Dealer Authorisation requirements.
Working closely with the Pharmacy Senior Leadership Team, you will oversee procurement operations, supplier management, stock control, GDP training, and the maintenance of a robust Quality Management System. You will act as the named responsible Person for the Trust's WDA(H) licence.
This is a rewarding and high-impact role offering leadership, autonomy, and close collaboration with internal teams, regional procurement networks, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.

The main duties include, but are not limited to:
To lead the management of the procurement and distribution activities to ensure the safe and efficient supply of pharmaceutical products to be used for treating patients and to support ward-staff in the effective management of medicines.
To communicate effectively and promptly with all members of the pharmacy teams and, where necessary, clinical multidisciplinary teams (MDTs), to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of medicines management/optimisation and supply services to patients and colleagues across the health system
To participate in high standards of practice as defined by the CQC, GPhC, MHRA, and other relevant organisations for implementation across the Trust.
To contribute to the Trusts compliance with the Medicines Management standards, Clinical Governance, Quality Assurance and Risk management.
To be the responsible person named on the MHRA Wholesale Distributor Authorisation (WDA) license.
To be the Responsible Person for the MHRA wholesalers Dealers Authorisation
1. Ensure that the quality management system is maintained including:a. quality risk managementb. corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) to address deviationsc. change control
2. Required to:a. carry out all duties in such a way as to ensure that Pharmacy Department candemonstrate GDP complianceb. ensure all appropriate personnel are trained in GDP and that continuous training programmes are implemented, maintained and fully recorded
Human Resource Management
All posts with responsibility for managing staff are expected to lead, motivate, develop and reward staff and are required to comply with the Trust's policies and Manager's Code of Conduct.
To be responsible for the personnel management of colleagues within stores team and pharmacy messenger team.
