Product Manager, Ecommerce & App Platform Transformation

River Island is undertaking a major digital transformation, migrating our ecommerce platform to Shopify, implementing Akeneo PIM, and re-platforming our mobile app experience.

We are looking for an experienced Product Manager to join the programme on a 12-month fixed term contract, supporting the delivery of the platform migration and helping shape the future roadmap.

This role will work closely with internal product, engineering and experience teams, as well as our integration partner, helping refine scope, support design and delivery decisions, and ensure teams have the product clarity needed to build efficiently.

Alongside supporting delivery of the initial migration milestones, the role will also help shape and prioritise the future product roadmap, working collaboratively with Product Managers and key stakeholders across the business.

Experience with Shopify ecosystem, PIM platforms (e.g. Akeneo), or ecommerce platform migrations is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Product Delivery & Collaboration

• Work closely with River Island product, engineering and experience teams to refine features across the ecommerce and mobile app platforms.
• Collaborate with our integration partner to clarify requirements, support solution design and unblock delivery teams.
• Participate in refinement sessions, ensuring epics and features are clearly understood by engineering teams.
• Support cross-team collaboration across product, technology and operational stakeholders.

Product Definition

• Translate strategic capability areas into clear product briefs, feature definitions and acceptance criteria.
• Work with design and engineering teams to iterate customer journeys and refine solutions.
• Ensure solutions align to the wider product vision, principles and milestones.

Backlog Development & Roadmap Planning

• Support our integration partner to build a product backlog supporting upcoming milestones.
• Prepare future workstreams for refinement and delivery.
• Run prioritisation sessions with Product Managers and key stakeholders to help shape the future roadmap.

Programme Alignment

• Facilitate communication between internal teams and delivery partners.
• Support programme governance by ensuring product decisions and scope changes are clearly documented.
• Ensure work delivered aligns to the overall programme outcomes and milestones

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Proven experience as a Product Manager within ecommerce or digital platforms
• Experience working with Shopify
• Experience working with PIM platforms, ideally Akeneo
• Strong ability to translate strategy into clear product documentation and briefs
• Experience working in cross-functional agile teams
• Experience collaborating with external agencies or implementation partners
• Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills

Desirable

• Experience working on ecommerce platform migrations or replatforming programmes
• Experience with mobile app product delivery
• Experience with composable or modern commerce architectures
