Production Maintenance Technician

The Team

The Production Maintenance team is responsible for ensuring all manufacturing, filling, and packaging equipment performs at an optimal level. The team supports both planned and reactive maintenance activities, driving equipment reliability, resolving technical issues, and enabling continuous improvement across production operations. You will work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to minimise downtime and maintain full compliance with regulatory requirements.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to maintain Bard production assets in a condition that ensures reliable and compliant manufacture and packaging of pharmaceutical products. You will carry out both planned and reactive maintenance activities, assigned via the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), to support equipment performance, minimise downtime, and uphold regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Maintenance Execution and Equipment Reliability

  • Carry out planned, preventive, and reactive maintenance on the full range of manufacturing, filling, and packaging equipment in line with company procedures and industry best practice.
  • Ensure equipment performance is maintained to minimise downtime and support safe, efficient production.
  • Apply engineering knowledge and craft skills to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve equipment issues promptly.

Documentation and Compliance

  • Ensure all maintenance activities are accurately documented within the Bard CMMS, in accordance with company SOPs and regulatory expectations.
  • Maintain full compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements at all times.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement using recognised problem‑solving tools.
  • Support Bard’s continuous improvement (CI) initiatives by reducing waste, improving equipment reliability, and lowering operational costs.

Technical Support

  • Provide technical support for process investigations and equipment setup activities.
  • Assist production teams by applying equipment knowledge to improve setup efficiency and support resolution of process‑related issues.

  • What You’ll Bring

    • Relevant technical or engineering qualification (mechanical, electrical, or multi‑skilled preferred).
    • Experience in maintenance within a pharmaceutical, FMCG, or other regulated manufacturing environment.
    • Strong understanding of equipment maintenance principles, root‑cause analysis, and problem‑solving techniques.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross‑functional teams.
    • Strong attention to detail, commitment to documentation accuracy, and understanding of regulatory compliance.
    • Proactive approach to safety, continuous improvement, and equipment reliability.
