The role will work within the Supply Chain Optimisation team within Global supply chain. The Global supply chain team sits within the Product & Supply Chain Accelerator function. Reporting to the Head of Delivery for Supply Chain, you will take responsibility for leading Supply Chain programmes of business change, working closely with functional leadership teams from across relevant areas of the business. The Programme Manager is responsible for the successful management of global, multiple medium to large, complex, multi-phased programmes and projects by leading cross-functional teams to define, scope, plan, execute and deliver exceptional business value and benefits on time and within budget.

The Programme Manager will manage all aspects of new and existing programmes/projects from start to finish and be the single point of contact for all programme activities, schedule and status. This position receives very broad guidance from management and requires a high level of initiative and problem-solving ability.

This position can be based in either Corby, London or Manchester and is a hybrid working role.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide leadership to empower, inspire and facilitate the work of cross-functional programme teams by setting objectives and defining tactics necessary to accomplish these objectives.
  • Day to day leadership of Programme team to deliver Business outcomes and achieve benefits realisation.
  • Establishing and maintaining governance arrangements for the delivery of programmes, defining clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities, that align with organisational practice.
  • Preparing and maintaining schedules for programme activities and events, taking account of dependencies and resource requirements.
  • Lead discussions with business leaders and the organisation to clearly define complete programme requirements, i.e., vision, outcomes, metrics, support and delivery requirements.
  • Lead stakeholders through the programme lifecycle ensuring appropriate assurance gates are held and passed, plans and documentation are developed and that the programme receives appropriate review, authorisation, resources, and funding.
  • Drive cross-functional team members to develop detailed project schedules and milestones, project plans, budget, scope, timeline and risks and risk mitigation plans to meet programme requirements while maintaining positive team moral.
  • Preparing, gaining approval of, refining and updating business cases that justify the initiation and/or continuation of programmes (and/or the projects within them) in terms of benefits, costs and risk.
  • Develop programme budgets and integrate programme costs into the organisation-level budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Facilitate making trade off decisions between quality, costs, scope and time.
  • Develop strong understanding of relevant business functions, direction, organisational structure and overall business goals. Identifying and monitoring programme risks (threats and opportunities), planning and implementing responses to them and responding to other issues that affect the programme.
  • Continually manage programme expectations with team members, stakeholders and senior management by monitoring progress against the plan, escalating problems and issues that impact cost, scope or schedule and notifying affected departments
  • Manage external delivery partners and contractors when required.
  • Facilitate programme meetings to drive programme progress and resolve issues; prepare and distribute agendas, minutes, action items and status reports. Provide regular programme updates to Stakeholders.
  • Lead and participate in developing, maintaining, and evolving standards, project and resource portfolio planning and prioritisation, tracking and reporting mechanisms, templates and documented processes for process improvement and programme governance.
