Join our team as a Technical Project and Change Officer.

Somerset Council is looking for a dynamic and motivated Project and Change Officer to join our ICT directorate. In this pivotal role, you will work alongside a Technical Delivery Manager and be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of technical projects across the Council.
You will play a key role in the delivery of ICT projects. Your responsibilities will include project planning, change management, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and compliance with governance and quality standards.
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Working with Leads to establish and manage project governance and plans to ensure successful delivery of projects.
- Coordinating change activities and ensure smooth transitions during project implementations.
- Engaging with stakeholders to gather requirements and identify levels of change and ensure their needs are met throughout the project.
- Developing and monitoring change impact assessments, training and communication plans, and support managers and staff throughout the change process.
- Tracking and monitoring progress and carrying out corrective actions to ensure your project remains on track.
- Proactively analysing, managing and resolving risks associated with projects.
- Ensuring adherence to governance and quality standards.
- Developing the implement project communication channels and ensure key project documentation is stored with appropriate level of visibility across the project.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you have:
- Proven experience in a similar role.
- Good technical acumen including proficiency in Microsoft products and Project Management tools.
- Detailed knowledge and experience of Project Management methodologies.
- Familiarity with Agile frameworks such as DevOps, Scrum or Kanban.
- Practical knowledge of change management principles and practices associated with technology projects.
- Practical knowledge of stakeholder engagement and communication strategies.
- Experience in producing and maintaining key project documentation.
- Experience in providing advice and guidance on project and change management activities.
- A higher-level qualification in a related field such a project management, business administration or similar.
- Relevant professional certification in project and change management such as Prince2, PMI or APM is desirable.
