Are you an experienced operational leader who knows how to unlock productivity within hospital services?


An NHS organisation is seeking an Interim Project Delivery Manager to lead a critical workstream within a major Financial Recovery Programme, focusing on improving performance across theatres and outpatient services.


This is a high-impact role where you’ll work closely with clinical and operational teams to increase activity, optimise capacity and ensure services are delivering both excellent patient care and strong financial performance.


Key Responsibilities

Driving Clinical Productivity

  • Improve theatre utilisation, scheduling and case throughput
  • Identify opportunities to maximise capacity while maintaining safety and quality
  • Support teams to deliver more efficient outpatient pathways


Delivering Financial Benefits

  • Translate operational improvements into measurable cost savings and additional income
  • Identify opportunities to expand private patient activity where appropriate
  • Contribute to wider financial recovery objectives


Leading Operational Change

  • Partner with clinicians, theatre leaders and operational managers to implement improved ways of working
  • Introduce best practice approaches to theatre scheduling, capacity planning and pathway design
  • Ensure sustainable improvements across services


Performance & Impact

  • Monitor utilisation, activity levels, productivity and financial outcomes
  • Embed robust reporting and ensure improvements are maintained over time


About You

You will be a senior operational healthcare leader with a strong track record of delivering service improvement in acute hospital environments.


You’ll bring:

  • Experience managing or improving theatres and/or outpatient services
  • A strong understanding of hospital productivity, capacity and financial performance
  • Proven success delivering operational change within financially challenged healthcare systems
  • Confidence working closely with clinical leaders and multidisciplinary teams

  • This role will suit someone who combines strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, and who thrives in complex NHS environments.
