Job Title: Project Manager – Canal Network Infrastructure (ECI)

Location: Coventry to Milton Keynes (with travel across the route)

Sector: Civil Engineering / Infrastructure

About the Role

A leading UK infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of works across a canal network portfolio between Coventry and Milton Keynes. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing complex civil engineering projects along operational waterways.

The successful candidate must have proven experience delivering ECI (Early Contractor Involvement) projects and demonstrate a steady, consistent work history on similar infrastructure schemes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle delivery of canal and waterways infrastructure projects from ECI through to completion.
  • Manage Early Contractor Involvement phases, including buildability reviews, risk mitigation, programme development, and cost planning.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, designers, and supply chain partners during pre-construction and delivery phases.
  • Oversee programme management, cost control, and commercial performance.
  • Ensure works are delivered safely, sustainably, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including site managers, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Maintain compliance with environmental and waterways regulations.
  • Provide clear reporting on progress, risks, and financial performance.
  • Essential Requirements

    • Proven experience delivering ECI works within civil engineering or infrastructure.
    • Demonstrable track record on canal, waterways, flood defence, or similar heavy civils projects.
    • Steady employment history showing consistent progression and delivery on comparable schemes.
    • Strong understanding of NEC contracts (particularly NEC3/NEC4).
    • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.
    • SMSTS, CSCS (Manager level), and relevant engineering or construction qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent).
    • Full UK driving licence.

    Desirable Experience

    • Experience working on live waterway or environmentally sensitive sites.
    • Background in structural, geotechnical, or marine/civil engineering works.
  • Experience within regulated or publicly funded infrastructure environments.
