Job Purpose / Summary

K&N, part of the Rubix Group, provide 24/7 engineering services. We repair, overhaul, install, and maintain pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, hydraulic equipment and cover a wide range of industrial equipment for customers across multiple sectors.

The Project Supervisor supports the delivery of site and service projects, working under the direction of the Project Manager. This is a developmental role designed to build capability in planning, coordination, customer communication, and project controls.

The Project Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standard. They coordinate day-to-day activity across engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and support functions, maintaining clear communication, accurate reporting, and proactive issue resolution.

The role supports project administration and commercial processes including assisting with quotations, cost tracking, RAMS preparation, resource planning and customer updates, while developing the skills required to progress into a Project Manager role.

Key Responsibilities

Customer & Communication Support

  • Support the Project Manager in managing customer communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships through professional updates, responsiveness, and on-site presence where required.
  • Assist in preparing quotations, tenders, and variation documentation.
  • Ensure customer requirements are clearly communicated to internal teams.
  • Escalate customer concerns, scope changes, and commercial risks to the Project Manager.

Project Delivery & Coordination

  • Support projects from order acceptance through to completion and close-out.
  • Coordinate day-to-day delivery activity, ensuring work packs, materials, labour, and access requirements are in place.
  • Assist in developing project plans, schedules, and task sequencing.
  • Track progress against agreed scope, schedule, and cost and report variances to the Project Manager.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation (job files, site records, service reports, completion packs).
  • Support project close-out including handover documentation and internal lessons learned.

Quality, Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Promote a safety-first culture and lead by example.
  • Support the preparation and review of RAMS, ensuring they are suitable and implemented on site.
  • Ensure engineers and subcontractors follow company procedures and statutory H&S requirements.
  • Participate in site audits, inspections, toolbox talks, and compliance checks as required.
  • Report hazards, incidents and near misses promptly, ensuring corrective actions are followed through.
  • Ensure work is delivered to relevant BS/ISO standards and customer requirements.

Resource Planning & Operational Support

  • Support labour and equipment planning, coordinating with Engineering Supervisors and Team Leaders.
  • Assist in booking subcontractors, arranging permits, and coordinating site access.
  • Liaise with supply chain to ensure materials and parts are ordered, tracked, and available when needed.
  • Help maximise productivity and minimise downtime through proactive coordination.

Cost Awareness & Reporting

  • Assist the Project Manager with cost capture, timesheets, purchase order control, and job costing updates.
  • Support accurate invoicing by ensuring job documentation and variations are recorded correctly.
  • Produce progress updates, delivery reports and basic financial summaries for review by the Project Manager.
  • Contribute to achieving project KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives.

    Key Skills And Qualifications

    Skills & Experience

    • Experience supervising teams in an engineering/service environment.
    • Strong technical background in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance (with a specialist trade).
    • Ability to coordinate engineers, subcontractors and site activity across multiple jobs.
    • Working knowledge of H&S procedures, compliance, and risk management.
    • Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable using job management systems, documentation, and reporting tools.
  • Desire to develop commercial and project management capability.

  • Qualifications

    • Recognised apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent).
    • Minimum 3–5 years supervisory/team leader experience (engineering/site environment).
    • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or equivalent desirable.
    • CSCS card holder and First Aid trained desirable.
    • Additional specialist qualifications (EUSR, lifting, confined space, electrical testing) advantageous.
    • Valid UK driving licence required.
    • HNC/HND Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (desirable)
    • Project Management qualification (desirable)
