The role
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Shetland Standby Project Team for an experienced Protection Engineer to undertake a senior role, providing both onsite commissioning and design duties for a 24-month period. The Shetland Standby Project consists of the installation of a 63MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) alongside an AC Chopper at a new site adjacent to the Gremista Grid S/S, Lerwick Shetland.
The successful candidate will be expected to travel to site at regular intervals to ensure that a smooth commissioning period is carried out, and to provide commissioning leadership, co-ordination, and technical assurance across multiple delivery partners, alongside specialist protection design support to the project team.
This project supports the transition of the Shetland Distribution Network from its current islanded supply at Lerwick to the main UK network via HVDC link. The role involves managing a highrisk, technically complex Standby Arrangement and is expected to run for 24 months, with some support to wider LCD distribution projects.
You will

- Attend project meetings and witness FAT, on-site commissioning by third parties as required.
