BCL Legal is delighted to be partnering with a leading international law firm, who, due to continued growth, is seeking to recruit public procurement lawyers at all levels, from 2 years' PQE to those aspiring to Legal Director, to join their expanding cross-sector public procurement team in Birmingham.

This is an exciting opportunity for solicitors at any stage of their career to work on high-profile public sector matters across the UK and to be part of a forward-thinking firm and team.

The Role

You will join a dynamic and expanding team advising both public and private sector clients, including central and local government bodies, national agencies, NHS bodies, educational institutions, charities, utility companies, and suppliers to the public sector.

Key responsibilities include:

· Advising on all aspects of public procurement law, including the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and related frameworks.

· Drafting and advising on procurement documentation, such as contract notices, specifications, evaluation strategies, and award letters.

· Supporting procurement strategy and advisory work, as well as handling challenges to procurement decisions, including High Court litigation where applicable.

· Collaborating with colleagues across commercial, regulatory, and litigation teams to provide comprehensive client advice.

· Contributing to business development initiatives, including client events, seminars, newsletters, blogs, and pitches.

· Supporting the development of internal knowledge resources and mentoring junior team members.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for candidates who:

· Are qualified solicitors with at least 2+ PQE (up to Senior Associates aspiring for their first Legal Director role).

· Have experience in public procurement law, particularly in relation to commercial contracts for public sector outsourcing or infrastructure projects.

· Possess strong commercial awareness, excellent analytical, drafting, and advisory skills.

· Are confident in managing their own matters and engaging with clients, while excelling in a collaborative team environment.

· Are keen to support the growth of a national public procurement practice.

What’s in it for You?

· Opportunity to work on high-profile advisory matters across the public sector.

· Competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.

· Flexible hybrid working arrangements.

· A supportive, inclusive team environment with a focus on professional growth.

· Structured career development, training, and mentoring opportunities.

Why Apply?

This is an excellent opportunity for public procurement lawyers from 2+ PQE to build or develop their career in a leading national practice, work on complex and high-profile matters, and contribute to the expansion of a thriving public procurement team.
