As a Regional Competency Officer, you will play a pivotal role in St. James's Place Management Services, supporting the success and integrity of our Partnership. This is an outstanding opportunity to be at the forefront of our Training & Competency (T&C) framework.

You will collaborate closely with Partners and Supervisors, providing insightful mentorship, assurance and oversight to help them meet regulatory standards and maintain high levels of proficiency. Your role will be key in delivering outstanding client outcomes and elevating our standards to a world-class level!

Who We're Looking For

We seek an individual with outstanding relationship‑building skills, strong attention to detail, and the confidence to work both independently and within your collaborative group of peers. You'll be proactive, consistently planning ahead, foreseeing upcoming activities, and ensuring coworkers are informed well in advance.

Comfortable engaging with people at all levels, you will offer clear mentorship, constructive challenge, and credible guidance when necessary. Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, are crucial, along with the ability to influence effectively and support others in achieving their goals, timelines, and established standards.

You will bring a collaborative approach, a focus on high standards, and a genuine dedication to getting things right. If you are organised, conscientious, and can build strong professional relationships at all levels, this role will be for you.

What Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Provide independent oversight of the T&C Scheme, ensuring appropriate Partner supervision and corrective measures are taken, including maintaining Partner commptency records, Partner interaction records, skills assessments, and risk action plans.
  • Ensure SJP's Training and Competence arrangements are strong and suitable. Keep the T&C Scheme (policy) current with regulatory and corporate updates or new initiatives.
  • Analyse monthly benchmark data, highlight exceptions, and communicate these to the Supervisor.
  • Apply your knowledge and expertise to act as a consultant for queries.
  • Meet monthly with Supervisors to present and discuss exception reports, agreeing on appropriate actions.
  • Deliver training and mentorship on the scheme requirements.
  • Use your expertise and judgement to identify and bring up risk or competency issues to Senior Management.

Essential:

  • Outstanding written and verbal english
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

Desirable:

  • An understanding of the SJP Partnership or Financial Adviser Businesses
  • Previous experience in a financial services, training or regulated industry
