Risk Officer

We are currently partnering with a leading financial services organisation who are seeking an Operational Risk Officer to join their growing Risk & Compliance function on a permanent basis.

Our client is recognised for their strong governance culture and commitment to delivering good customer outcomes across all areas of the business. This role sits within the Second Line of Defence and plays a key part in supporting and enhancing operational risk management frameworks.

This is a full-time position, and they will be looking for candidates to attend the office once or twice per week. The salary on offer is between £45,000 and £50,000 per annum.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Supporting and challenging the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process
• Reviewing and challenging policies, procedures and operational controls
• Delivering the annual Independent Testing Plan, including issue identification and follow-up
• Preparing and analysing Operational Risk and Control reports for senior leaders
• Supporting incident management, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution
• Building strong working relationships across departments and acting as a key contact for operational risk matters
• Contributing to cross-functional risk initiatives and best practice development
• Representing the Risk Oversight team in key meetings, deputising when required
• Providing guidance on complex risk issues and driving improvements to risk processes and systems

Experience required:

• 3–5 years’ experience in operational risk, internal controls, or governance within financial services or a related environment
• Proven experience leading risk and control assessments
• Experience supporting or deputising for senior management
• Background in incident management, process improvement or back-office operations
• Experience contributing to strategic risk initiatives or strengthening control environments

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and challenge
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing deadlines
• Ability to build collaborative relationships across business areas
• Facilitation and presentation skills, with confidence leading meetings or training
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and risk management/data analysis tools
