Description

We are recruiting for a Safety, Health and Wellbeing Advisor to join us here at Octavius.

In this role, you will proactively offer safety, health and wellbeing support and guidance on our £112m Walsgrave Junction Upgrade Scheme.

We are a leading civil engineering organisation delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions across the UK.


You'll be working on…. (what your role and responsibility is)

  • Providing proactive SHW leadership on the Walsgrave highways project, ensuring safe, healthy and compliant site operations.
  • Acting as the site's SHW lead, advising and supporting operational teams and driving consistent standards.
  • Leading site inductions, daily SHW engagement, inspections and behavioural observations.
  • Managing incident investigations, root cause analysis and embedding lessons learned.
  • Monitoring SHW performance, maintaining dashboards and ensuring accurate reporting, including HART submissions.
  • Supporting audits, assurance reviews and SHW communication campaigns across the project.

You'll bring… (your wealth of experience & qualifications)

  • Experience working in a SHW role within civil engineering, rail or highways infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting or managing SHW across multiple or complex sites.
  • Strong understanding of SHW challenges in major infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience in incident investigation, audit processes and delivering compliance outcomes.
  • Familiarity with ISO45001, ISO14001 and ISO9001 requirements.
  • Ability to analyse SHW performance data and maintain reporting dashboards.
  • An established network within client and contractor SHW communities (desirable).
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (desired)
  • Membership of IOSH or working toward Chartered status
  • Evidence of continued professional development in SHW and leadership
  • SEATS (Safety, Environmental Awareness Training Scheme)
  • Mental Health First Aid (preferred)
  • Additional wellbeing, environmental or quality‑related qualifications (desirable)
