SAS Doctor in Paediatric Emergency Medicine

We are looking for a SAS doctor, at middle grade level or above (see person specification), to help take the department forward. This permanent position will provide a fantastic opportunity to work together to bring about change while providing an excellent opportunity to have opportunity in PEM at a hospital that looks after a diverse population, including many children with complex needs.

Job description

Applicants for these posts should have completed either

(a) at least 24 months postgraduate training in paediatrics (not including Foundation modules) or

(b) at least 36 months experience in Emergency Medicine or the Acute Common Care Stem (ACCS) and CT3 specialities (not including Foundation modules) by the time of appointment.

(c) be a post CCT GP with an interest in Paediatrics

• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification

• Success in MRCPCH or MCEM

• Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment
• Evidence of Foundation competencies from a UKFPO affiliated Foundation Programme or equivalent by the time of appointment
• By the time of appointment, achievement of one of the following: oLevel 1 (ST4) training competences in Paediatrics or equivalent oCT1-3 ACCS Training in EM or equivalent (including 6 months Paeds EM) but must include a minimum of 6 months in EM and a minimum of 3 months in specialties other than EM.

Clinical governance research/ teaching skills

• Evidence of active participation in audit/QI
• Demonstrates understanding of importance of research

• GCP training completed
• Instructor status in an advanced life support course (ATLS, ETC, EPALS, APLS) or equivalent course. Evidence of completion of a teaching course
