Salary: The starting salary is £40,519 which includes allowances totalling £3,009 The salary is broken down as £37,510 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £40,141 Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Digital, Data & Technology (DDaT) is part of the Digital & Innovation Business Group and reports to the Chief Digital & Innovation Officer.

Digital, Data & Technology (DDaT)

The mission of Digital, Data & Technology (DDaT) is to provide the Met with information (and specifically data), communications and technology to help frontline officers and Met staff
do their jobs more efficiently, to deliver the New Met for London plan. In other words, DDaT is about “passionately delivering trusted technology for precise data driven policing”.

As Well As Keeping Up To Speed With Developments In Technology And Making Recommendations For New Equipment And Systems That Will Help Modernise Policing, DDaT Also Comprises The Data Office Which

Owns and drives the data compliance and analytics agenda.

Brings together the accountabilities that are currently dispersed across the Met business areas.

Consolidates and further develops existing Met data and insight services.

Enables data sharing and collaboration to serve the public and external partners.

Job Purpose

To lead the day-to-day management and improvement of CONNECT’s Saved Search and export functionality so that users can retrieve accurate information quickly and critical reports are produced on time.

The role coordinates service requests, carries out complex configuration work, and escalates larger changes through defined governance so that system reliability and performance are maintained.

Key Role Responsibilities

Administer public and shared saved searches within agreed parameters so that search results remain accurate and up to
date.

Review, recommend and prioritise user requests for new search and data-export capabilities, so that the Saved Search function can proactively support future demands from the both the business and the end users.

Draft and propose saved-search guidance and maintenance schedules ensuring understanding and usage remains consistent.

Triage and resolve saved-search incidents and requests via ServiceNow so that issues are addressed within agreed service levels.

Build and test complex saved-search configurations (JSON templates) within the saved-search layer so that approved improvements are delivered safely.

Track search and export performance and user feedback, raising change requests for major issues so that continuous improvement is evidenced.

Maintain scheduled exports (e.g. Daily Crime Digest, Overnight Remands, Custody Reports) and validate outputs with recipients so that business-critical reporting remains reliable.

Deliver short user training sessions and publish clear guidance on the CONNECT Hub so that users can self-serve common tasks.

Undertake periodic housekeeping to retire under-used searches and improve indexing so that system performance is optimised, utilising SQL and VBA to extract the underpinning data to generate the actionable insights.

Coordinate saved-search inputs for planned operational events (e.g. Notting Hill Carnival) so that information retrieval supports frontline operations.
>Line-manage one Saved Search SME Administrator (Band E), setting objectives, allocating work, and supporting development so that service levels are maintained.

Log risks and issues and escalate to the Band C Manager so that governance is maintained and remedial actions tracked.

Hybrid Working available in line with the Metropolitan Police Service hybrid working policy.

Working Pattern

The role requires that you attend the Newlands Park office 3-days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between the core hours of 10:00 to 16:00.

Vetting

This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post.

Knowledge

Understanding of enterprise search configuration and saved-search concepts (filters, sharing, indexing).

Working knowledge of JSON configuration.

Working knowledge of HTML, SQL and VBA programming.

Awareness of information-governance and data-protection principles.

Understanding of CONNECT modules and data flows.

Skills

Ability to edit and test saved-search templates safely.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify configuration issues.

Clear written and verbal communication to explain technical concepts to non-specialists.

Ability to deliver concise user training and create practical guidance materials.

Inclusive behaviours and effective collaboration across technical and operational teams.

Experience

Experience supporting system configurations or similar service requests.

Experience maintaining scheduled exports or routine reports.

Experience contributing to change governance or release management.

Experience supporting users through mailbox or ticketing systems (e.g. ServiceNow).
