We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic scientist to join our Data-Driven Engineering team, who is interested in applying simulation, data-driven methods and advanced numerical techniques to target design and high energy density physics.
You will have practical experience in hydrodynamic and magnetohydrodynamic simulation, together with an interest in applying optimisation and modern computational methods to complex physics and engineering problems. You will work closely with physicists, engineers and experimental teams to design and improve fusion targets and related technologies for First Light Fusion’s driver platforms.
The role will involve using in-house simulation tools to study target behaviour, understand the physical processes that determine performance, and guide design choices. You will also contribute to the analysis of large ensembles of simulations, identify meaningful trends and support efficient design iteration.
In addition, you will support colleagues across the company through technical input on target design and simulation analysis, and contribute to collaborations with external partners where appropriate. This role is available at the scientist level, with the possibility to appoint at the senior level for an exceptional candidate.
