Description

The Senedd Security Service is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of everyone who visits or works at the Senedd, including elected officials and their staff.


As a Security Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the Senedd Estate while leading, developing, and supporting our Security Team Leaders and Security Officers. You will ensure our security operations run to the highest standards, while also providing a calm, professional and diplomatic point of contact for a wide range of staff, visitors, and stakeholders.


The Security Operations Manager is a line manager responsible for the supervision and development of Security Team Leaders and Security Officers and for ensuring the integrity and safety of the Senedd Estate is maintained. You will provide a professional customer interface, dealing diplomatically with a variety of people from different backgrounds, whether staff or visitors.


You will work as part of a team of four Security Operations Managers. While all four postholders are responsible for delivering the full range of operational duties, each role also carries a designated area of specialist focus. For this position, that specialism is Development & Welfare, where you will take the lead in driving staff development, wellbeing, and progression across the service.


Reporting to the Senior Security Manager, you will be responsible for delivering a high level of operational performance (Security and Customer Service) and will be required to provide support, direction, motivation for your Team Leaders and Security Officers. You will be expected to demonstrate a willingness to learn, along with judgement, excellent team working, interpersonal, leadership and management skills.


Job Specific Criteria

  1. Welsh Language Skills - Level 3
  2. Proven background in operational security management within a complex or high profile environment
  • Experience leading and developing teams, ideally within a security service.
  • Ability to deliver a high level of customer service to both internal and external stakeholders. Ability to deal diplomatically and professionally with a wide range of people, including staff, visitors, and elected Members.
  • Experience of working with confidential and sensitive information
  • Experience creating or overseeing training, development and learning programmes, understanding of staff wellbeing, welfare processes, and supportive employment practices.

  • Desirable Criteria

    1. Hold (or being willing to undertake) a relevant Security Qualification (e.g. BTEC Level in Security Management) or a relevant Health & Safety Qualification (e.g. NEBOSH general cert. or above)
    2. Experience of writing, managing and reviewing risk assessments

Bydd disgwyl i chi ddangos parodrwydd i ddysgu, ynghyd â doethineb, gallu rhagorol i weithio mewn tîm, a sgiliau rhyngbersonol, sgiliau arwain a sgiliau rheoli.

    4. Y gallu i ddarparu gwasanaeth cwsmeriaid o’r radd flaenaf i randdeiliaid mewnol ac allanol. Y gallu i ymdrin yn ddiplomataidd ac yn broffesiynol ag amrywiaeth eang o bobl, gan gynnwys staff, ymwelwyr ac Aelodau etholedig.

    6. Profiad o greu neu oruchwylio rhaglenni hyfforddi, rhaglenni dysgu a datblygu, gyda dealltwriaeth o lesiant staff, prosesau lles, ac arferion cyflogaeth cefnogol.
